Keido is a specialty coffee discovery and social app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and display name. When you use the app, we collect the content you create: coffee reviews, ratings, tasting notes, photos, and brew details. We also collect basic usage information (which pages you visit, when you last used the app) to help us improve the service.

If you connect a third-party login (such as Google), we receive only the account information that provider shares with us — typically your name and email.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to run Keido: to create and display your profile, show your reviews to other users, send you notifications you've opted into, and improve how the app works. We do not use your personal information to train AI models or sell it to advertisers.

Your reviews and ratings are public by default. You can make your account private from Settings, which limits who can see your activity.

3. Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

We share information with a small number of infrastructure providers that are necessary to run Keido:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Supabase is a cloud service that stores your account data, reviews, and preferences securely. Think of it as the secure filing cabinet where your information lives. More at supabase.com/privacy.

• Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel serves the Keido app to your device over the internet, similar to how a web server works. More at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

• Google Maps — we use Google's mapping service to display nearby coffee locations. When you use the map, your device's location is sent to Google to load the map. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the integrity of the platform.

4. Business features and paid plans

Keido is free for everyone. We offer optional paid features for coffee businesses — such as Keido Pro (a monthly subscription) and the ability to feature their coffees or promote their profiles to enthusiasts nearby. These are optional and paid for by businesses, not users.

If a business pays to feature content, that content will be clearly labeled as promoted or featured so you always know what you're seeing.

5. Affiliate links

Keido may include affiliate links to coffee products, equipment, or courses. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, Keido may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links help support the development of Keido and keep it free for users.

Any affiliate relationship will be disclosed clearly wherever affiliate links appear. We only link to products and services we believe are genuinely useful to the specialty coffee community.

6. Location data

When you use the map or search for nearby locations, your device may share your location with us and with Google Maps to show relevant results. This is optional — you can browse and search without sharing your location.

We do not store your precise location history on our servers.

7. Your privacy controls

From your Settings you can make your account private (requires approval before others can follow you), control which notifications you receive, and update your personal information. You can delete your account entirely, immediately and in-app, from Settings → Delete Account. One exception: if your account manages a claimed business location, you'll first need to transfer or release that location (via the Feedback form) before the account can be deleted. Deleting your account removes your login, email, and profile right away, and permanently deletes the content you created with it: posts, photos, check-ins, shop reviews and ratings, forum threads and replies, lists, favorites, follows, messages you sent, and any job application or résumé you submitted.

8. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), your login credentials, email address, profile info, and the content you created are deleted immediately — there's no waiting period and no recovery window, so export or save anything you want to keep first. Two narrow exceptions survive, both de-identified with no link back to you: safety and moderation records (so a resolved report can't simply be re-filed), and aggregate counts that never identified you in the first place. Content other people created is theirs and stays — for example, a reply someone else wrote in a thread you started.

9. Data storage and security

Your data is stored using Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We take security seriously, but no system is completely immune to risk. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to enable any available account security features.

10. Cookies and local storage

Keido uses your browser's local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences between visits. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your browsing behavior to advertisers.

11. Children's privacy

Keido is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Keido grows. If we make a significant change — especially one that affects how your data is used — we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect.

13. Contact us

For privacy-related questions or other data requests, use the Feedback form in the app. To delete your account, use Settings → Delete Account instead — that takes effect immediately and doesn't require submitting anything, unless your account manages a claimed business location, which must be transferred or released (via the Feedback form) first.
